Qur’an in Bible

I. Qur’an in Gospel:

Prophet Muhammad is extensively proclaimed by the Gospel, Jesus says: “But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Spirit of truth will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the FATHER, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the ruler of this world now stands condemned. I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 16, 7-13)
Prophet Muhammad only proclaimed what he heard from Archangel Gabriel. The statement: “For he will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears” is an exact description of the manner in which the Qu’ran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad.
In the Qur’an, Prophet Muhammad is called “the seal of the prophets” (XXXIII 40), which means a conclusion of the Revelation, or in the words of John “he will guide you into all the truth”.
All other criteria under John 16,7-15 also correspond in particular or exclusively to the Qur’an revealed to Prophet Muhammad.
“the spirit of truth…will tell you what is yet to come”. The Qur’an describes the beyond like no other scripture, but also future events.

“When he comes, he will prove the world to be wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the FATHER, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the ruler of this world now stands condemned.” (John 16,8-11):

1. “sin, because people do not believe in me“:
The Qur’an says: “(And remember) when GOD said: O Jesus! I am gathering you and causing you to ascend to Me, and I am cleaning you of those who disbelieve and  I am setting those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection[. . . ].” (III 55)

“When Jesus came with clear proofs, he said, ’I have come to you with wisdom, and to explain to you some of the things about which you differ. So fear GOD and obey me.’” (XLIII 63)

“And when the angels said: ‘O Mary! Truly, GOD has chosen and purified you and chosen you before the women of all the world.  [. . . ] Oh, Mary! Verily, GOD proclaimed to you by a word of Him: his name is Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, distinguished in this world and in the Hereafter, one of the near ones.'” (III 42-45)

2. “righteousness, because I am going to the FATHER, where you can see me no longer“:
The Qur’an confirms the resurrection of Jesus and his ascent to heaven: “And because of their saying: We killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, GOD’s messenger – they killed him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they killed him not for certain. But GOD took him up unto Himself. GOD was ever Mighty, Wise.” ( IV 157-158)

3. “judgement, because the ruler of this world now stands condemned“:
The “ruler of this world” is the Devil. This is illustrated by the words of Jesus: “I will not say much more to you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has no power over me.” (John 14:30)
The Qur’an shows exactly what Jesus indicates: the fall of “Iblis”, the Devil, the “ruler of this world. ” His condemnation, and the postponement of execution until the Day of Judgment: “Then all the angels prostrated themselves, except Iblis; he was arrogant and became one of the ungrateful, and asked: “O Iblis, what prevented you from prostrating yourself to what I created with My hands? He replied, “I am better than him; You have created me from fire, and him only from clay”. He said, “Get away from here; behold, you are outcast; upon you is My curse till the Day of Judgment…” (XXXVIII 73-87; cf. VII 11-18; XV 31-41)

When Jesus proclaims “when he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment” this corresponds to important explanations found in the Qur’an.

Conclusion: Everything with which Jesus announces a great and concluding revelation corresponds to the Qur’an taught by Archangel Gabriel to Prophet Muhammad

II. Qur’an in Tora:

In the Tora we encounter the Qur’an in another way. There is only one condition for the acceptance of a prophet in the Tora:

“And if you think, How can we know a word that the LORD has not spoken? then you should know that if a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, and his word is not fulfilled and does not come true, it is a word that the LORD has not spoken. The Prophet has only presumed to speak it. You shouldn’t let that upset you.” ( Dtn 18,21-22)

The fulfilment of the prophecy is therefore the all-decisive criterion. Now let us examine the Qur’an for this:

1. Historical prophecies: In the Qur’an the following prophecy is recorded: “The Romans have been defeated in the nearer land, and they, after their defeat will be victorious within ten years – GOD’s is the command in the former case and in the latter – and in that day believers will rejoice in GOD’s help to victory. He helpeth to victory whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Merciful.” ( XXX 2-5)

While the Romans were still pagans at the time of Jesus, the Romans in this prediction of Muhammad have meanwhile become believers to whom GOD predicts a victory. The Muslims had taken sides for them. This prediction (around the year 616) came about three years after Damascus (613) and two years after Jerusalem (614) had been conquered by the Persians, and was fulfilled a few years later (from 622) by the victories of the Romans over the Persians.

Another interesting historical prophecy: “(And remember) when GOD said: O Jesus! I am gathering you and causing you to ascend to Me, and I am cleaning you of those who disbelieve and  I am setting those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection[. . . ].” (III 55)

Is not this also a prophecy that has come true? Even if the way may often seem worthy of criticism, and many people of the Occident are no longer practicing Christians, has not in the last centuries the Christian world gained an advantage over the Islamic world? I also find interesting the designation in the Qur’an of those as “disbelievers” who do not follow Jesus. Muslims apparently often think that non-Muslims are “disbelievers”. But the Qur’an always describes Jews and Christians very respectfully as “people of the Scripture”, just as Muslims are.

Muslims, Christians and Jews all follow an equal part of the Scripture.

2. Scientific prophecies: There is, moreover, another quite exciting form of “prophecy”: scientific statements that have only recently been proven, which could not have been made by a human being in that time. As examples, I would like to mention the description of the “Big Bang Theory”- the creation of the universe from a single mass -, the creation of all life from water, and the expansion of the universe:

“Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and We made every living thing of water ? Will they not then believe ?” ( XXI 30)

“We built the heavens with (Our) power, and see how We expand them (constantly)!” (LI 47)

How could Prophet Muhammad, ignorant of reading and writing, have made such precise statements almost 1400 years ago?
